Why Should Insurers Partner with DSI?

Even responsible teens make dangerous decisions.

Teen drivers represent the highest-risk segment insurers cover.

Inexperience, distraction, and risk-taking behaviors make teens significantly more likely to be involved in crashes—the vast majority of them preventable. Motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of death for teens over 16. Decisions—not ability—are the largest driver of fatalities.

Partner With Us

Lower-risk teens, higher value bundles

DSI delivers low-risk teenage drivers to insurance partners, with the ability to bundle the full suite of family insurance.

DSI partners with driving schools across the country to reach parents who are invested in the safety of their teen and motivated to provide oversight and accountability.

Parents may choose to pay full price for the DSI program, or select an insurance partner for rebates to offset the cost.

Insurers may choose to offer higher rebates for bundled policies beyond personal auto.

How we make a difference

DSI reduces risky behavior in teen drivers by providing immediate feedback, accountability, and targeted ongoing education. By focusing on day-to-day driving decisions, the program helps prevent accidents, injuries, and fatalities.

DSI targets their decisions behind the wheel, providing a driving coach and accountability post-licensure.

Research shows in-vehicle alerts plus parent-led coaching is effective:

  • Immediate alerts with inward/outward facing cameras and parent coaching reduce risky behavior in teens by 66%. (Reyes et. al. 2016)
  • Immediate alerts combined with parental alerts result in a 60-70% decline in risky events for teen drivers. (Farmer et. al. 2010)

How the program works

AI-Driven Safety Alerts - AI Driven Camera

Windshield-mounted cameras use AI to detect unsafe behaviors—such as speeding, seatbelt misuse, tailgating, phone use, distractions, and missed signals. When risk is detected, the device gives real-time verbal prompts like:

“Put down your phone”

“Slow down,”

“Fasten your seatbelt,”

or “Tailgating”

Parent-supported accountability

If an alert is ignored, a video of the violation is recorded. Parents coach their student on their unsafe behavior and reinforce safe-driving expectations.

Personalized ongoing education

Students receive continuous learning through brief videos and quizzes tailored to their specific driving patterns, helping them build safer habits over time.
